My DSTV Guide During the Lockown

0 224

During the lockdown, we had to find ways to occupy our days. One of the ways that I kept occupied was watching television. My housemate and I used to not watch TV on weekdays before the lockdown. we would just come from work and everyone will go to their bedroom to do whatever. But when the lockdown happened, we would gather in the living room and watch TV on a daily basis to catch up with our favourite shows. Before the lockdown, we had different tastes in television programs and whoever had the remote controlled what we watched but since government-imposed lockdown, we have discovered TV shows that we both love.

Anyway, I just wanted to share with you our favourite DSTV shows that we have grew to love and to look forward to each day.

The Block Austria season 13

This was showing on VUZU and was our favourite . Watching the process of restoring old houses to incredible homes was such a joy. The interactions between the contestants made us angry and laugh and yes, we too chose sides and are proud to admit that we are team North. If you’ve watched the show, you will get it and no, it’s not a Game of Thrones reference. We are currently certified interior designers (in our dreams). Every Monday to Friday at 8pm you would find us communing in our living room cheering our favourites on.

Beat Shazam

This is a show for any music lovers. Its hosted by Jamie Fox and Corrine Fox (father and daughter duo) and also show on VUZU. Playing along is so much fun as we just shout out answers. You should see us showing off our music knowledge. Not to brag but given an opportunity we would win that $1,000,000.

 Project Runway

Now this is the show where our fashion sense comes to life. Hehe… we were many times in disagreement with the Judges’ opinions because we consider ourselves fashion savants in our rights. Creatives in any field always fascinate me. So watching these competitors take on a task and execute as required was always fun.

Survivor South Africa

Had never given this program a second of my time till the lockdown happened. Am officially a fan. This is a game of chess not checkers. The place where betrayals happen and no one is a villain because at the end of the day you want to outsmart everyone and survive the elimination. When one contestant (Palesa) failed to play her idol and trusted the one person she had never trusted before all because she thought breaking bread with him would suddenly make him change his loyalties, we were so disappointed. Spent the next day venting to each other about that one wrong move. We screamed at the TV but the end of the day, we had to appreciate Tom’s move. This show has every contestant walking the frenemy line with the rest of the contestants. This show was on VUZU.

High fidelity

This is your typical chic series. It was my guilty pleasure. Watching the character Rob go through her relationships is unsettlingly familiar. Hehe… the awkwardness of bumping into an ex or asking for a favour, her interaction with her friends who know her so well are situations so relatable. It’s just one of those shows that just gives you ideas that may seem brilliant but may end up being things better left untouched case in point is when Rob decided to find out from her top five memorable heartbreaks why things never worked out. It’s all fun and games until you meet the one who got away. It was sad to hear that the show was cancelled after one season.

Tell me about the TV  shows you love.
